BALTIMORE (WBFF) Local Muslim leaders are calling on Maryland elected officials to take action on the Kashmir, India crisis.
The Council of American Islamic Relations joined Kashmiri-American families for a news conference demanding an end to the communications ban.
Nearly two months ago, the Indian government revoked Kashmir’s protected status.
Since then, authorities there severed internet connections, cell phone lines and land lines.
“This move has officially made Kashmir the largest open air prison in the world, after Gaza, it has a communications blockade that has cut off hundreds of Kashmiri-American families across the state and thousands across the nation,” said Maryland Outreach Director, Zainab Chaudry.
Muslim leaders want Maryland elected officials to sponsor the Kashmir human rights bill.
