Last year, 18 Indian soldiers were killed and 30 others injured in an Indian army base in Uri, Kashmir. While the incident was still going on, India blamed that Pakistan had ties to the attackers. Soon afterwards, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “those behind the attack will not go unpunished”. In fact, both India and Pakistan have waged a propaganda war against each other in their entire post-independence history after 1947. It is a sad fact that India started blaming Pakistan even though the real circumstances in which the soldiers were killed in the Uri attack are still undetermined. It is in the interest of both the nuclear-armed states to keep restraint and and let an independent judicial commission determine how the incident occurred and who were masterminds behind it.
